The Nicene Creed 5: Who is Arius?
Arius was a church leader in Alexandria, Egypt who sparked a major church controversy when he claimed that Jesus was a being that God the Father had created. This view is counter to orthodox trinitarianism and the Counsel of Nicaea was primarily formed to deal with the uproar. But, who was Arius? Where did he come from? What exactly did he teach? And why was/is it such a big deal? Check out today’s episode to find out.

Join us as this Lent as we explore the historic Nicene Creed, a 4th century Christian faith statement. Each week we launch two new episodes on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our Wednesday episodes focus on the history surrounding the creed and its development. On Fridays we look at the actual content of the creed and consider its implications. Along the way we may be joined by some special guests in bonus episodes. Be on the lookout!
