Episode 76 of the Meet the Locals podcast features an hour long groover from relative newcomer to the Washington DC electronic music community, Dastan:
"This mix was put together with the idea of truly meeting me and sharing the sounds that have helped shape my taste and what I think is a great sound that DC is embracing more and more. I went through a journey that begins really flirtatious and steady, and grows into a bit wilder of a ride, and ultimately landing you down in a sweet and warm place. There is a ton of middle eastern and oriental influence in it, which roots from my own family. The kind of sounds that you can't help but move a bit to, I think are very important in bringing the soul out in music, and I'm happy to highlight them here. I did a lot of traveling in the last few years and picked all of these artists and their songs from as far and wide as possible, while maintaining a central motif of curiosity and fun loving. At the end of it all, it came down to a core feeling that I hope you find in this mix. I'll be playing in DC this March at ESL on the 19th for my monthly B2B with local DJ Erica Marcantonio, and hosting a full Saturday party at El Techo on the 16th which is always a ton of fun...though keep an eye on my social media, there might be some surprise announcements!"
