For the 50th (!) edition of the DC House Grooves Meet the Locals Podcast, we've got something really special: a celebration of pure disco joy from Eighteenth Street Lounge resident Adrian Collazo:
"I decided to record a mix with disco and boogie tracks that are near and dear to my heart. I grew up with a lot of these songs and remember recording late night mixes on WKTU (Disco 92) in Brooklyn. The next day I’d bring out my boombox and sit on my stoop with other neighborhood kids to hang out and listen to my tapes. I started the mix with a common WKTU station ID and boy, it brings back memories. People sometimes ask me why I love DJing and it’s really quite simple - I love being a disco/boogie/funk ambassador as well as sharing my love for house and other music that derives from the disco era. Enjoy. You can catch me in the Jazz Room at ESL or at various underground spots in the District including Jimmy Valentine’s, Dr. Clock’s and Looking Glass Lounge - serving up a mix of disco, boogie, funk, and deep house. Check out my Facebook page for upcoming gigs."
