My patented move to get a basketball crowd excited was to toss the ball off the backboard, jump, catch and dunk the ball all in one motion. Crowds in Mexico especially loved that.
I remember trying it once at my neighborhood playground, many years earlier, and missing. Some kid on the sideline commented, “who do you think YOU is?”
I did a TED talk in 2016 assessing the fake it till you make it saying, how real it is, and how it's to be utilized.
The conclusion was, there is no faking it when you truly believe what you're doing.
