“You won’t play college ball, Dre. Not even JuCo!”
That was my high school teammate, who was feeling himself at the time. Regardless of his logically incorrect assertion — junior college is only “junior” because of the academic side — he was pretty sure he was right. He was a starter on the varsity; I was a bench warmer. He was sure of his college basketball chances — and of my lack thereof.
I saw this same guy many times through my college years. I was a player at Penn State Altoona and we would drive up to the main campus to play pickup every Friday. I’d see him on the sidelines.
He was a student at main campus. He never played a second of college ball.
Your self belief will be attacked. You may be inclined to believe it. Today’s show is made to make sure you don’t.
