Being social creatures, we like to roll with the winners. We watch the videos that have the most views. We become fans o who never is most popular. We do what we see other people doing. If everyone else is into it, there must be a good reason!
There are some ways this propensity can make people irrationally stupid. But, people are by nature irrational. So it’s best we learn to utilize this truth to our advantage, instead of trying to rail against it.
If you want people on your side, wanting to ride with you and be a fan, supporter or client, you need to start winning. And keep winning. People will follow instinctively.
