As members of the Hmong American community, we are not strangers to being displaced people. Many of us have heard stories about the migration and exodus of our family members from Southeast Asia, and our ancestors from China. Today, migrants from Central and South American countries face similar hardships due to foreign policy that the United States has pursued in the region. However, the current administration continues to unlawfully and inhumanely impose immigration policies that once again harm the families and children that they have caused to seek asylum and a safe home in the United States.
In this episode, we share some of our families’ stories, and explore why the past, present, and future of immigration polices in the United States continue to matter to the Hmong American community.
