Description

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Meaning of Health where we are joined by Hannah Pierce, the Alcohol Policy and Research coordinator at the Cancer Council of Western Australia, and the current president of the West Australian Branch of the Public Health Association of Australia. Hannah's work looks at how alcohol is marketed in Australia. This includes ads on billboards that you might see when you are driving, ads shown during sports broadcasts on television, or posts marketing alcohol that appear on social media. We discuss how alcohol marketing is regulated in Australia, who this marketing tends to impact the most in our society, and some of the areas where things could be improved. We also discuss an interesting report that Hannah's team at the Cancer Council recently produced that looked at how alcohol was being marketed on social media during the recent COVID19 restrictions.
