In the 80’s, I had no idea of the Jewish connection to Gateshead, nor my past, nor what the future would entail. And so, there I was, in a quiet street in Gateshead and suddenly a bell went! I mean, literally… a bell started to ring. Suddenly, I felt as if I was in labour. Okay, I know, I’m a bloke… how can I know what being in labour is like. But these pains within my gut were real... I felt as if something moved within me, in the way a baby might turn in a pregnant mum-to-be. And I was so excited! Why was I so excited? It made no sense.
