Being Alive Means Being Vulnerable. March 26, 2023 Rev. Morrison
Order of Service
Quote - Madeleine L'Engle
“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown up, we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability. To be alive is to be vulnerable.”
How will being vulnerable and open enhance and enrich our lives? Is it worth the risk of being hurt? Let's come together and explore how vulnerability can be scary and beautiful all at the same time.

Prelude
Chalice Lighting
For all of those… by Rev. Scott Tayler
We light this chalice,
For those who convinced us that it was safe to share our longings,
For those who proved that not everyone will run from the weight of the pain we carry,
For those who held us in our fear and helped us heal from our regret,
For those whose humble apologies made us believe that we too could be forgiven,
And for those whose tenderness helped us see that we no longer need to hide.
Our vulnerability frees us. It binds us.
It makes holy the path we travel together.
May this flame ever help us keep that in view.

Extinguishing the Flame Wendell Berry
It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.
