I saw the newer West Side Story in the movie theater and was absolutely Blown Away.
I said to my husband, “Did Stephen Sondheim get to see this before he passed away?”
“He very likely saw a private screening of it before it opened up.”
I was relieved to hear this because the end result of this movie musical was absolutely phenomenal.
Without Sonheim’s voice, we would not have West Side Story and many other phenomenal musicals.
It saddens me so much that I never got to meet him in person and thank him for all that he has done for musical theatre.
