Description

Ever had that one friend that thinks they know everything?

They could have just started learning something, let’s say an instrument, but they feel like they’re experts.

This phenomena is called the Dunning-Kruger effect, and happens when people of low ability overestimate their strengths. They don’t know what they don’t know, and so they think they’re more advanced than they are.

Conversely, people who are actually competent tend to underestimate themselves, because they’ve seen how deep a field is.

Damien and I have definitely been on both sides of the Dunning-Kruger effect, so hopefully, our discussion on today’s episode resonates with some of you!
