Review.: "Well boy oh boy do we have a weighty selection on our hands as the best of the Environmental Science catalogue is gathered into one fourteen track playlist, courtesy of Big Fat Mama Beats. The selection showcases nothing short of an epic discography, with breaksy room shakers such as 'Brisco Sucks' alongside the more acidic throwback sounds of 'Trigger Time' being combined in style. Our highlights on this one, have to include the super moody sub rattles of 'Chic Terrorist', backed up by the nostalgic drum twists of 'The Day The Zak Stood Still' and of course the synthy brilliance of 'Standard Hoodlum Issue'. Environmental Science needs no introduction here at Big Fat Mama Beats. Coming guns blazing with an arsenal of 14 original funk-fueled high powered brassic big beats, spiced with oldschool breakbeat and acid breaks. The sound is best known from early/mid 90's big beat, sprung from the acid house and rave scene, where all kinds of groundbreaking bodacious beats, blow up from the underground. Enviromental Science had many top charters in this era, with countless on-demand remixes, while performing Live on stages worldwide, yet still always keeping it underground. The style, is comparable to early classics, such as The Chemical Brothers 'Exit Planet Dust' LP, and other legendary house producers, back in the day, picking up sampled beats, like Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim and also Justin Robertsons, comin on with his legendary 'Lionrock' project. Early last year, the Enviromental Science band, decided to pop their heads together for a complete collection of new and retrospective tracks, to great benefit for all breakbeat warriors across the board. They finally drop their full length album and 'Best Of Environmental Science' compilation. They're best known for top of the line breakbeats, from the likes of 'Dat Gunslinger', and their critically acclaimed 'Science Park' remixes, wich swiftly has become successful to a wider audience. Especially the remix of The Prodigy's 'Poison', is one of their best known remix-works. Environmental Science was formed by Zak H Laycock and DJ Spatts of The Criminal Minds after they re-mixed The Prodigy's track The Poison. Additions to the live line up are Seamus Smith, Faz (Joanne Farragher) & 'Count' Ade Stranik. The first release for Environmental Science was on their own label Twisted Systems. They then went on to sign for Skint Records, later on dealing with Fused & Bruised, XL and many more. All Tracks Written, Programmed, Mixed and Produced by Allen, Laycock, Smith. Tracks 5,8 & 12 written by Allen, Laycock, Smith, Street & Farragher. PRS/MCPS/PPL/Copyright Control/Big Fat Mamma Beats 2020.
