China's club scene, like much of the rest of the country, is on the rise. Very little music in this show is beyond 25 years old, which is when the internet allowed for more widespread pirating and smuggling of dance music from beyond the Great Firewall. Pioneers like B6, Tzu Sing, club Shelter have ushered in a new era of at times fast, at times delicate, but always fascinating electronic music. A number of tracks on this playlist reflect not just the state of Chinese music but the state of the World at the time, cities in China were just leaving their long COVID-19 lockdowns and the countries of Europe were just entering theirs. Therefore a few tracks are actually not by Chinese producers (breaking one of the cardinal 'rules' of the show), but come from compilations supporting the Chinese recovery from the global pandemic.
