Listen

Description

Sunday morning was full of praise, prayer, fellowship and to listen to God's Word.

Last Sunday we began our new series called ‘God’s heart for the world’. We are spending 4 weeks looking at the book of Jonah and seeing that God’s heart is one of love for, and mercy towards, the world.

I started the series by looking at Jonah chapter 1 in our all-age service. If you were in attendance last week, you would have appreciated the effort that went into decorating the stage and the way the children and young people got involved and made the story come to life for us! It’s great to be part of a church with so many children and young people!

In chapter 1 we see that God is really concerned for Nineveh and wants them to repent and come to Him. That’s why he sends Jonah to go and preach to them (Jonah 1:1-2). This is a little surprising because Old Testament Prophets were usually sent to preach to Israel (God’s people) but Jonah is asked to go and preach against a pagan city who were known for their wickedness.

As I was preparing for my message, I kept asking myself the question, ‘who represents us in this story? Are we more like Jonah or are we more like Nineveh?’
