Om Namah Shivaya means “I invoke, trust, honor and bow to the light of Shiva”. But each syllable has a meaning: “Om” is the sound of the Universe, inner peace; “Namah” is a bow to the hidden power of Shiva, also relating to the wheel of life; “Shivaya” is the reverence for Shiva, universal soul and energy of the world.
