Description

On the seventeenth episode of the 24 Inch Podcast, Steve Bennett and Dave Rowlands take a deep dive into SummerSlam 1988 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

At the top, Steve and Dave talk about the loss of two more wrestling legends, promote a very important podcast that debuts this fall, and Dave gives us a review of the Guns N Roses concert he attended at Giants Stadium.

After the break, the guys give a brief bio of Ted DiBIase. Also, Steve and Dave talk about the history of the legendary Madison Square Garden. Then, Dave tells us what the Hulkster was up to in July and August 1988.

Steve reads the news from August of 1988 while Dave cracks wise and adds his thoughts on a month filled with political conventions, natural disasters, and the 40th Annual Emmy Awards.

Steve and Dave break down the entire card from SummerSlam 1988. The guys rave about an opening tag match that goes the distance, explain why some of the matches were booked, and speculate as to why Brutus Beefcake got the X instead of a shot at the Intercontinental title.
Finally, Steve and Dave break down the epic main event between the Mega Powers and the Mega Bucks.

Also on this episode, we share listener emails and comments from our facebook page with the beautiful Paula Bennett and announce our plans for episode eighteen.
