He then explains why the Mets were in a Catch 22 situation this offseason because of how impactful their free agents were this season. They needed to retain/ replace their free agents (and that cost of business is high) just to be as good (on paper) as the team that won 101 games in 2022. After discussing how long it has been since the Mets had a wire to wire NL East division winner, let alone World Series Championship, John gives the reason it makes the most sense right now for the team to do whatever it takes finally to win a World Series next season. John reiterates his belief in Baker Mayfield by stating there are NOT 32 NFL Quarterbacks that are better than him. However, it is important for Baker to prove himself over the next four (4) games of the regular season to earn his next job for 2023. Finally, John laughs at the Phoenix Suns and their childish sore loser antics in the waking seconds of their recent loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
