Maureen Pollard interviews Donna about her experience of losing her son while he was on active military duty, and how challenging it was to navigate such a public death at a time when anything to do with military combat role in Afghanistan was a hot topic. "I just wasn't quite prepared for how, I wouldn't say relentless but persistent, the media was with regards to 'we need a statement'". Donna talks about how her reality was clouded by the public peering into their personal lives, and how it kept diverting their attention from what they needed to do for their family. They also discuss how her family felt comfort in not being forgotten by the military, and how the memory of her son and his sense of humour and quirkiness live on in the media attention they recieved after his death.
