John 3:16-21 - Everyone worships. The question is "Who or what do they worship?" In this 6-part series, we will be considering the nature of Christian worship of the triune God both in the wide-angled big picture and in the practical details that we might be faithful worshipers. To begin, we consider some of the words of Jesus that reveal some incredible truths about God that sit in tension with one another: God is transcendent and God is immanent; God is just and God is gracious. Taken together, these truths describe a God we can't help but want to worship. He is worthy! A sermon by Cameron Heger. [Part 1 of the series "The Praises of HIs People: A Practical Theology of Worship"]

Questions for discussion: 1) How have you conceptualized the nature of worship in the past? 2) Do you agree with the claim that all people (even irreligious people) worship something? Why or why not? 3) How would you make a case for God's praise-worthiness? 4) How are God's transcendence and immanence in tension with one another? How do they inform and balance one another? 5) Why do we need God to be both just and gracious? 6) How would you describe your worshiping life right now?
