Description

Lumber Prices are still going high and Stan Stevens is here to talk about lumber prices and how it impacts the market. There are a lot of housing developments here around Broken Arrow, Jenks and in Bixby and because the supply of houses is very low, that is driving the demand for new housing and new construction. The demand for new houses significantly affects the increase of lumber prices. Lumber prices had already started to go up since the pandemic started and not because of the shortage of wood but due to the disruption in the supply chain coming from overseas.

The latest framing lumber prices per 1000 board feet in November is just below $600, today it is already $1500 per 1000 board feet, an increase of $1000 per thousand board feet. In addition to those things that affect the home price to go up and the low interest rates here in Tulsa, the market is driven by the people who want to move from an astronomically priced coast that is not even cost effective to live in makes Tulsa a nice and attractive place to live.
