R' Shlomo would say that Shabbos is mekor habracha, shabbos is the roots of all blessing. Why is it that when a flower disconnects from its roots, it stops growing? And why is it that when it’s still connected to its roots, it grows? Simple. You have to be connected to the roots. Your roots are your insides. Without roots, you are outside, and if you are really on the outside, you stop growing.
Shabbos is the place to remember that what I really want is to keep on growing.
