Kicking this On the Move off, hosts Matt Avery and John Kraman have some hot picks from the upcoming Mecum Indy Fall Special. Matt is digging a 1956 Chevrolet 210 hardtop restomod that features tons of modern upgrades like a JW Rod Garage chassis, a 5.7L LS1 engine and big wheels, tires and brakes. John’s selection is a 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 showing just three delivery miles. It’s number 1,997 of the 5,000 produced for the 2020 model year and more than ready for track use. Keeping the performance theme rolling, Matt has the latest from Hennessey. The Texas tuner announced they’ll be offering a supercharged upgrade to the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. The stock horsepower of 710 gets bumped to 1,012. The company claims the SUV will have a zero to 60mph time of just 2.8 seconds while the quarter mile will click off in 10.8 seconds at 126mph. Just 50 will be built and will come with a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty.
Another SUV boasting upwards of 1,000 horsepower is the forthcoming GMC HUMMER EV. Matt and John are eager for the reveal, happening October 20th and discuss their best guess of what’s in store for the all-electric supertruck. Wrapping up car news, John has a bit of unpleasant news for Corvette C8 owners in that production has been paused yet again.
Joining Matt and John in Segment 2 is Jack Roush, Jr., of ROUSH Performance, a long-standing powerhouse of providing performance solutions. Jack gives the latest on the company, including the growing interest in trucks like the F-150 and Ranger. He also details the most power Mustang yet, the 2020 Jack Roush Edition. It delivers 775 horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque and boasts a claimed zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Jack talks about some of the special cars in his personal collection and even teases some future plans for the company including performance variants of the Mustang Mach-E and Bronco.
In Segment 3, Chip Miller, of Wagonmasters, is on the line. Wagonmasters, based in Kerrville, Texas specializes in providing parts and restoration services to Jeep Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers. Chip talks about how the business has grown including his early memories of the family riding around the farm in Jeep products. He also talks about his recent experience with the Grand Wagoneer Concept and gives his thoughts on the rebirth of the American icon.
