This is my forty-third entry in The Producers Corner "sample challenge", where everyone is given the same source music from which to sample, and the results are diverse and entertaining. The source this week was the album "Soho Hipsters" by Dennis Farnon et al; a remastered compilation of jazz funk from the 60s and 70s. I made the mistake of buying the album and listening to it too much at first, falling in love with the tracks as is, and almost not wanting to ruin it by chopping it all up. I put it off for a few days until time and inspiration came through once I filtered the main loop as a RZAesque bassline and then went in to add more accompaniment. I added my own drum programing utilizing drum loops from J-Zone, but all the rest of the music is comprised of about sixteen edited and layered and combined loops and snippets from the source.
