Following feeding the five thousand, Matthew 14:22-33 reveals a different aspect of Jesus’ divinity. The narrative finds the disciples, sans Jesus, back in the boat in the Sea of Galilee. Fighting against the winds and waves of a storm, they spot Jesus walking on the water towards them. Previously, they experienced Jesus’ divine power to provide provisions to meet one’s needs. Now, they will experience Jesus’ divine power to provide protection even amid the storms of life.
