Description

Self-centered wisdom promises independence but ultimately produces isolation. Proverbs 18:1-2 exposes the danger of a heart that withdraws from others, not to grow in understanding, but to protect its own opinions. The person who separates himself resists counsel and pursues personal desire, mistaking stubbornness for discernment. Rather than listening and learning, the fool delights in airing his own views, valuing self-expression over truth. God’s wisdom, however, is marked by humility and teachability, calling His people to remain open to correction and anchored in community rather than retreating into self-made understanding.
