God takes no pleasure in self-righteous moralists. In the grand scheme of things, it is not outward reformation that makes a person right with God but inward transformation. In Matthew 12:43-45, Jesus refers to the unclean spirit He exorcised to demonstrate the danger of outward reformation without inward transformation.
