Psalm 115 is a vindication of God’s name. From the Jewish perspective, a name represents an individual’s character or nature. The author rebuffs the pagans accusations against God and His character. They claim that God is not present and that He has forgotten His people. The psalmist assures God’s people that the Lord has not forgotten them and He will bless them in His time. He warns the pagans questioning God’s name or character that YHWH will vindicate His name.
