Description

The sixth artist focused EP from Presha Records comes courtesy
of Caven. Following on from his debut ‘Salamander’ on last
year’s Presha V/A 002 compilation, and remix duties on
PRSH005, Caven delivers a varied selection of tracks,
underpinned by his penchant for dense percussive grooves and
melodic flourishes.

‘I’d like my music to be the kind that people could sit down to and
listen to at home or on a train, I think I’m much more on that
wavelength than making tracks that bang in a club. My influences
for this EP were varied, everything from the output of Rhythm
Section, Blip Discs and YAM to 90s jungle artists such as Photek
and LTJ Bukem. I’ve only been making electronic music for a
couple of years and still feel that I am maturing as an artist, and
am starting to find my feet.’

The opening track, 24QS is a continuation of Caven’s
percussive, jazz tinged house style found on previous
releases. Beginning with a driving percussive backbone,
chimes, arpeggiated synths and uplifting piano chords are
slowly introduced, building to a euphoric crescendo at the 3
minute mark, before dropping out into a piano led groove.
