Brought up within the cultural milieu of Oxford and currently based in Bristol, Hedchef is an electronic musician, grounded between the spectra of techno and UK bass, whose use of disjointed rhythms, off-kilter samples and unconventional attitude to arrangement and composition sets him very much apart from the crowd.
Having performed under several aliases across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and beyond, the 24-year-old’s most recent alter ego draws in the listener with a punishing yet considered blend of relentless techno low-end, lurching rhythms and razor-sharp breakbeat choppage. As a founding member of Oxford’s Deep Cover collective and with an imminent release on Birmingham’s infamous Circular Jaw label – amongst many others yet to be announced – Hedchef is fast becoming a major player in the constantly shapeshifting world of UK-centric, bass-driven dance music.
