We are buzzed to share something we have been sitting on for a minute; Room Service 002. This next release comes from the powerful, high-energy, tour de force Taiwanese American producer, DJ, musician, and interdisciplinary artist, JIALING/BIG J.
Baltimore-born and raised, JIALING is a classically trained cellist who brings electronic sounds and live session musicians to her visual and sound art. The now New York-based artist has a monthly residency on Balamii Radio, multiple appearances on Lot Radio, is part of collectives WOE (Baltimore) and Ayi Ayi (New York), and performs hybrid cello/drum/hardware live sets with Bent Mode along with a back catalogue to make the hairs on your neck stand up.
‘Lost Trax 2K22’ follows JIALING’s debut album 家 (jiã) and defines her sound; punchy drums, percussion-filled breakdowns, emotive strings, and searching harmonies.
The EP opens with ‘Angels’, an off-kilter wobbly 140 techno/breaks track, combining vocal stabs and halftime breakdowns, which captivates and nods to raves of past and future sounds of techno.
