This recording was made at the beginning of a 2017 tour of Israel. The tour was titled, “The Land of Israel: Past, Present and Future.” The tour was operated by an Israeli tour company for Road Scholar, an American company that operates international tours. The speak was Dr. Gabi Barkay, an Israeli archeologist, an external lecturer at an Israeli university who has frequently appeared on the History Channel show the Naked Archeologist. He established the “Temple Mount Antiquities Salvage Operation,” that recovered significant ancient artifacts from 400 truckloads of earth removed from the Temple Mount from 1996 to 2001. He has participated in many other important discoveries. In this lecture, he explains why Jerusalem is such an important Israeli city. You’ll find Barkay views quite enlightening.
