Uddharani (English title: Allusion) is an independent experimental film made in the Malayalam language. This film is shot in black and white while emphasising some distinguishing colors. Uddharani is set in a fictional garden named "Shangri-La" after the fictional place from James Hilton's renowned novel "Lost Horizon". The film is about the Gatekeeper of the garden, Shangri-La, and tells about the existential crisis he faces. The film has inferences from the Malayalam novel, "Dharmapuranam" written by O V Vijayan and from Hermann Hesse's magnum opus "Siddhartha".
