Description

Two of our TWR intrepid reporters have just been on one of Australia’s iconic rail trips … again.
Three years after the inaugural journey from Adelaide to Brisbane, Carolyne Jasinski and Helen Hayes decided to see how the Great Southern was travelling.
This time they travelled the 2885km in reverse from Brisbane to Adelaide. On board the 687metre long train with 29 carriages were 178 guests and 38 crew.
And apart from stops in Coffs Harbour, Maitland (near the Hunter Valley in NSW) and Melbourne … which we will hear about later … one of their favourite parts of the journey was the mobile gourmet feast.
But how do the chefs manage to cook and plate these exquisite meals while the train is clickety clacking on the track.
They spoke to Rudy Heng, the chef du partie to get the gourmet goss.
