Michelle Winner was recently in Temecula, California with the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association on a wine immersion tour exploring the valley, mountains and wineries. A little over an hour from San Diego, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs, Temecula is an appealing wine destination with a Mediterranean climate growing grapes ranging from Italian, Spanish and French. Wine Enthusiast named it one of “10 Best Wine Travel Destinations 2019.” While much of the wine here is purchased at the winery by visitors, several wineries produce enough wine to be found in stores across California. The popular tourist drink, ”Almond Champagne” aside, Michelle found some beautifully crafted wines from reds to rose. And some charming sparklers (as in winemakers). Here she talks with Master Winemaker Jon McPherson, Master Winemaker at South Coast Winery.
