The beginning of celebrations to mark the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III held on 31st May was a huge success on the rock with 12,500 spectators attending the remarkable day of celebrations in the presence of the Monegasque Royal family. Now the attention is turned towards the 4th meeting of historical sites of the Grimaldis of Monaco on this weekend the 10th and 11th of June at the Place du Palais Princier.
Six departments will be in the spotlight, with 11 communes. The event will be held in an friendly atmosphere. Several events will be taking place for children and adults: tasting of culinary specialities, folk dancing, discovery of artists and typical trades.
Each department invited to the event will highlight its historic links with the Principality and give an introduction to its region and its cultural heritage.
On Saturday evening at 10 p.m., there will be a “Sound and Light” show projected on to the façades of the Prince’s Palace, which will tell the history of the Grimaldi dynasty through its links with the ancient “fiefdoms” on the Rocher.
