10.11.2023 - In this week’s Monaco Update November marks the “Mois sans Tabac” (Month Without Tobacco). For the eighth consecutive year, the Principality of Monaco is taking part in the “Mois sans Tabac” initiative, a local community prevention challenge which encourages and provides support for people to quit smoking.
Smokers are asked to quit smoking from 1st November for one month. After 28 days, the unpleasant side effects of quitting subside considerably. To give yourself the best chance of success, make sure you are well prepared by contacting a stop smoking specialist or a health professional, who will work with you to determine the most appropriate strategy in relation to your use of tobacco and lifestyle.
Support from the Princess Grace Hospital’s specialist stop smoking consultation service is free and can be accessed by telephoning +377.97.98.97.41.
The Prince’s Government invites smokers to take part in the event by visiting the Tabac Info Service website (https://www.tabac-info-service.fr/ ), or by calling 3989 (free of charge from Monaco and France), or by downloading the e-coaching application to quit smoking (https://www.tabac-info-service.fr/je-me-fais-accompagner/je-telecharge-l-appli ). According to the Minister of Health and Social Affairs Christophe Robino, “advice from a health professional increase one’s chances of successfully quitting smoking by 70%. Take advantage of the Mois sans Tabac to boost your chances of success.”
