What is a real vacation, anyway? It is to recuperate from yesterday? Rejuvenate for tomorrow? Or, is it to experience a whole new dimension of pleasure and inner-peace today?

Well, if we are going to be honest about the practical, as well as the ideological, then, our answer is: (d) All of The Above!

Yet, so few of our vacations hardly fully service any one reason of its purpose, how much less so all three. What are we doing wrong in our vacationing, so much so, that many male species, in particular, shy away from taking vacations, and almost dread it altogether. And, nevertheless, in the truest sense of the experience, we all yearn for the quintessential vacation.

In this lecture, we will explore the components of a quintessential vacation, and how to create them.

This lecture is based on a maamor the Rebbe delivered in 1965, exploring the relationship between Shabbat and building the Holy Temple, and why we are forbidden to even build the Holy Temple on Shabbat.
