Why the cloudy days?

From childhood on, cartoons always portrayed sunshine as a good and a fun day, while cloudy days as sad and boring days. However, is it actually so?

Kabbalah speaks of cloudy days being a source of melancholy. One becomes more introspective on a cloudy day, and on a more accountable mindset, than on the sunny days, which are represented more with the running free in the grass kind of imagery.

What is the deeper meaning to the clouds?

This lecture is based primarily on a maamor the Rebbe delivered, on this Shabbat in 1982, exploring the spiritual dimension why is it that when G-d made the covenant with Noah, to be symbolized by the rainbow, does G-d say, “My rainbow I have placed in the cloud… And the rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will see it, to remember the everlasting covenant”?
