(1) Have you always wanted to be a coach or was there a PIVOTAL moment in your life that prompted the shift?

Since a very young age, I’ve always enjoyed teaching. I love the a-ha moments that surface when showing a client a social media shortcut or the secret behind great content that really brings results. Most of all, I love being able to work with a variety of people, getting to know their stories and what makes them tick as individuals. I think there was always a part of me that wanted to help others… and coaching is just helping!

(2) Who is your IDEAL client and how do you support them?
My ideal client is a small business owner who is either new to social media or is frustrated with the results of their social media campaign so far. This person has someone on their team who manages social media BUT the business owner is not afraid to contribute to the content as well. I support them by showing them how to build a social media strategy that converts, while focusing on strong storytelling and social media efficiency. My goal is to make social media work for your small business without being a time suck.

(3) If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?

Dear younger self, stop caring so much what everyone else thinks. Follow your instincts and just forge the path that feels the best to you. Stop getting caught up in the noise that is everyone else’s opinion.

(4) Support from people around you is very important when starting a business – Were you supported from the beginning or did you have “NAY SAYERS” that you had to deal with?

I have always felt supported in my business. I have sought out people to help coach me as I will always be a student. I’ve never pretended to have all the answers. And I’m thankful for the people who’ve always been in my corner.

(5) We all have times in our businesses when things get tough. How do you deal with challenges?

Oh man, I used to deal with challenges by working my way out of them, often forcing a square peg into a round hole. Then I learned that was counterproductive. Now I plan my way out of challenges. I try to get some time and space – which often means shutting down and unplugging. That’s how I allow for clarity. Then I take that clarity and craft a plan. Without a plan, I’m highly susceptible to shiny object syndrome. 

(6) What advice do you have for NEWBIE COACHES just starting out their coaching journey?

I’d say I qualify as a newbie coach. So to me, I’d say, before jumping in and offering services, really think about what your business looks like 3 to 6 months from now. Craft a plan. Even if that plan changes – just make sure you have one. Otherwise, you’ll end up mired in client management with zero time to think about business development. So take some time at the outset to really decide what it is you want and what steps you need to get there.
