Today’s guest is Charthel Arthur who spent 13 years dancing with the Joffrey company starting in 1965. She also taught at Robert Joffrey’s annual summer intensive program in San Antonio Texas for 11 years and returned to the company as Ballet Mistress in 1998 until her recent retirement. Today, she is the Managing Director of the Gerald Arpino and Robert Joffrey Foundation, an organization that is committed to maintaining the legacy of the Joffrey Ballet by licensing choreographic works, educating dancers and students, and encouraging the talents of young choreographers.
