When somethings on your mind, it tends to leak out. Of course that's a good start then you sit back and let the lyric take you.
A track about belonging and longing for the new, about caring for what you have and what you might get. A song of imbalance. Not the Irish singing about wishing they were home, but a song about finding yourself home and knowing there is no leaving. I hope you enjoy.
There is maybe space for a harmonica track in here... if anyone is up for it.. :)
BENEATH THE CLOUDS
I always thought that I knew how to love.
But time has taught just how wrong I was.
Standing here where each day is the same.
Hiding in words but caught by the absence of your name.
Like the mountains caught the wind and sent it
to blow your letters free,
Sweep them all away down to
the indifference of the sea.
Standing here with my feet planted home.
I try to stay away but this land is in my bones.
Where my my prison is a vision of
this land beneath the clouds
Try to escape and find
Your heart will not allow
And if I leave I know I won't shed these regrets
for the nights have shown that dreams do not forget.
Standing here where all time stands still
Nothing but waiting, waiting here until
We can all rise together and leave this earthly place.
And maybe then I'll get to say I'm sorry to your face.
I always thought I knew how to love,
But time has taught just how wrong I was.
And I was wrong.
