As a Secular Humanist I support LGBT rights (and human rights in general), and I am horrified at the hateful murder of so many in Orlando.
I often think of Englishman Alan Turing, who broke the Enigma Code in WW2 (saving millions of lives) and invented the modern computer soon after. He was gay, and an atheist, and look at what he achieved. Every computer, every tablet, every smart phone owes its existence to him. Sadly he was persecuted in England for his 'crime' of being gay, and committed suicide. As an Anglo-Scot (Brit) I am proud Alan Turing was English, but not proud of how my former home country treated such a genius simply because he preferred sex with men.
That's why I think the word "pride" is so appropriate for the LGBT community. In fact, we should all be proud of the achievements of so many LGBT people.
I love rock and metal, so this is my way of showing support. It feels like a drop of love in an ocean of hatred spreading around the world.
