I absolutely love Tolkien's The Hobbit, and Lord Of The Rings. But it took a few attempts before I was able to appreciate his 'The Silmarillion'.
The story that stood out for me from this less popular of Tolkien's books was 'The Fall Of Gondolin'. Apparently it's also told in its original form in Book Of Lost Tales, so I must get around to reading that version one day.
Anyway, I remember a proud Elvish city falling to the armies of Morgoth (evil pre-cursor to Sauron). There was not just one Balrog, but many, many Balrogs...and Dragons. Now THAT would make a fine movie (are you there, Mr Jackson)?
In this track I use percussion to tear Gondolin down. I hope you enjoy it.
