Description

South African based pioneers in everything Disco, Nu-Disco & Editorial, Slow Mo Lounge, are back with a new tape. This time they keep it local with back to back music from Slow Mo Lounge residents, Clive Bean and Kongisto.

Kongisto had this to say about the mixtape: 'with the COVID-19 pandemic having a massive impact on us as a country and globe, it’s good to know we can always rely on music to get us through. This tape was no exception. The songs were carefully selected to lift the mood, even when we’re in isolation, using a genre both Clive and I love. I really enjoyed playing these edits, and we hope you enjoy listening to them'.

Vosloorus-born, Clive Mofokeng’s (fondly known as Clive Bean) music career started in 1994, serving mixtapes in high school inspired by then-popular radio station, Radio Bop. The station covered a wide range of musical tastes, from KRS One, Keith Murray & De la Soul (to name a few). This also included funk and soul greats like Diana Ross, Ashford and Simpson plus Kool and the Gang - this inspired Clive Bean, the DJ.

With 25 years in deejaying, residencies at some of Joburg’s most iconic clubs, a YFM residency, compilations with super- label Soul Candi, clothing label Levi’s, as well as giants, Defected Records (for Downtown Grooves), it’s safe to say Clive Bean really knows how to deliver good music. This has also earned him the role as the current Head DJ Lecturer and Music Business Training Advisor at Boston City Campus, an institution of higher learning in Johannesburg.

The mix is 3-hours long with new edits, some classics and household staples.

From Vosloorus and Diepkloof, with love.
