For Dilla Day 2025, we celebrate the re-release of SprinkleddonutsbyKongisto which debuted in 2014, over 11 years ago. The mix has been re-released as is, with all the rawness of the sound quality, track selection and deejaying ability, displayed by Kongisto back then. As part of the original release, the mix was featured on the Jameson Indie Channel by Jameson Whiskey back then with an article plus a few words from the Diepkloof, Soweto-born DJ:
'J Dilla was an American record producer and rapper who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip-hop scene in Detroit, Michigan. He was the MPC Pioneer geared with mad skills that changed the face of hip-hop production as we know it. In 2006 Yancey passed away due to a rare blood disorder called Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. If hip-hop ever had a maestro, it would undoubtedly be Dilla Dawg. The mix is an ode to every producer’s favourite producer and a showcase of how he changed our musical lives for the better, says Kongisto.'
