We sit down with Melbourne, Australia based black metal artist Em Støy of Fryktelig Støy, Oligarch and formerly Thrall and things get deep, raw and real. We discuss Em's new solo album Disappointment, her musical journey from being a member of Thrall, becoming a member of Oligarch and transitioning to being a solo artist. We discuss working very personal themes into your music, using allegories to express complex themes and why black metal is such a powerful medium for self expression. We also talk about the complexity of being in a band with a romantic partner, mental health, substance abuse, marriage and divorce, and being in a toxic or abusive relationship.
