"The Live on the Sun" is Cloud Cult's first album to gain national attention. After the death of his two year old son, Craig Minowa became a hermit in rural Northern Minnesota and wrote more than 100 songs in the basement of a farmhouse in a year. Those songs would be distilled into Cloud Cult's first album to chart on national college radio. In its early days, the band was compared to Radiohead, Modest Mouse and Flaming Lips.
