Description

John Kosner is an internet pioneer and 40-year veteran of sports media. Today, he is president of Kosner Media, a digital media and sports consultancy. In 2018, John and the late NBA Commissioner Emeritus David Stern created Micromanagement Ventures, a portfolio of sports technology start ups focused on media, betting, and player health. John continues to serve as an advisor to and an investor in the fifteen companies in Micromanagement Ventures. He is also a popular moderator and panelist at industry events and webinars.

Previously, John led ESPN digital media from 2003-2017, after stints at Sports Illustrated, the NBA, CBS Sports, and NBC Sports. In his twenty-one years at the company, Kosner built ESPN into the world’s leading digital sports destination, increasing traffic tenfold and turning an unprofitable business into ESPN’s fastest-growing one. Kosner and his team helped revolutionize the sports experience with ESPN.com, the ESPN App, Fantasy Sports, streaming including the development of ESPN3, and podcasting with PodCenter subscription services with Insider (now ESPN+). He was also responsible for recruiting, retaining, and developing exceptional sports writing talent including Wright Thompson, Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe, Ramona Shelburne, Bill Barnwell, and Sambit Bal as well as specialists like Adrian Wojnarowski, Matthew Berry, Henry Abbott, Jayski and Darren Rovell.
