Description

A strategic thinker with an analytical approach to solving problems, Marques is driven to create growth, where others may not see opportunity.

As a small school prospect and 7th round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints, not much was expected from Marques as an NFL player. His ability to understand the nuances of the wide receiver position allowed him to make an immediate impact. He developed a keen understanding of how every role fit into the overall context of an offensive game plan, and how to leverage his instincts and strengths to exploit the weaknesses of his opponents. That approach allowed Marques to thrive for a decade, in a role that became vital to the team’s success. He retired in 2015 as a Super Bowl champion and franchise leader in almost every receiving category.

While still an active NFL player, Marques leaned on those same tools to start his second career in business. Over the last 15+ years, he has developed a multidimensional understanding of the business world through his experiences as an entrepreneur, investor, advisor, and pro sports owner and executive.

He leverages his experience to consult and advise companies at the intersection of sports, health and wellness, technology, and media. Combining his instincts and problem-solving skills with operational experience, Marques helps clients navigate complex challenges to maximize their performance as well as the performance of their organizations. As a speaker and coach, he’s been featured at several business conferences and summits where he shares insights about business success, leadership, team building, and individual performance improvement.

Marques brings together his interests in health and wellness, tech, and entrepreneurship to give back to his community through his support for educational programs that share insights on success with others. In 2018, he partnered with Columbia Business School to create an executive education program for current and former athletes. He also partnered with his alma mater, Hofstra University, to establish the Marques Colston Fellowship to develop experiential learning programs for student-athletes pursuing health careers.
